THE PROPERTY HISTORY
Villa Julia was built by Nikolaos Peroglou in 1893.
The Peroglou family was a prominent urban family of Smyrna. The dowry agreement, dated in 1805, of Maria Dilberoglou, his wife Petros Peroglou, grandfather of Nikolaos, is preservated until today.
Ioannis, son of Petros Peroglou, settled with his wife Aikaterini
Miliotou in Athens. Their son, Nikolaos, was born there, in the house located in junction of Koumbari and V. Sofias streets. This house later passed to the family Benaki, with whom the Peroglou family maintained friendly relations, is still today the roof of the Benaki Museum.
AEGINA: MEET THE ISLAND
According to myths, the island took its name from a nymph – daughter of the river God Asopos – whom Zeus fell in love with and took with him to the island! From 11/1/1827 until 3/10/1829 Aegina town was the temporary capital of the newly founded Greek state.
